Generative AI (GenAI) Policy

The Liberec Economic Forum is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing. As generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools become increasingly common in research and scholarly communication, the conference has adopted the following policy to ensure responsible and transparent use of these technologies. This policy applies to all authors, reviewers, and editors engaged in the submission and evaluation of conference papers.

Principles of Authorship and Responsibility

Generative AI tools cannot be credited as authors or co-authors. Authorship is reserved exclusively for human researchers who make significant intellectual contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the work. All authors are fully accountable for the content of their submissions, regardless of whether AI tools were used in the research or writing process. The editorial board will not accept disclaimers that shift responsibility from authors to AI systems. Human accountability is a non-negotiable principle.

Transparency and Disclosure Requirements

The use of GenAI tools must be disclosed clearly and unambiguously. Authors must indicate:

  • Which tool(s) were used (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, MidJourney, or similar).
  • For what purpose the tool was used (e.g., language editing, coding assistance, summarization, figure generation).
  • Disclosure should appear in the Acknowledgments section of the paper or in a dedicated footnote.
  • Undisclosed or concealed use of AI tools will be treated as a breach of ethical publishing standards.

Acceptable Uses of GenAI (if stated in the paper)

  • Improving language clarity, grammar, or style.
  • Assisting in code generation or debugging under author supervision.
  • Supporting data visualization or figure creation (with proper verification).
  • Brainstorming ideas or outlining content, provided that the final work reflects the authors’ intellectual input.

Unacceptable Uses Of GenAI

  • Generating fabricated or falsified data, figures, or results.
  • Creating false or unverifiable references and citations.
  • Manipulating or misrepresenting research findings.
  • Using AI to generate entire manuscripts without substantial human oversight.

Reviewer and Editorial Use of AI Tools

Reviewers and editors are expected to evaluate submissions based solely on their expertise. The use of GenAI tools to generate review reports, recommendations, or decisions is not permitted. Reviewers may use AI-assisted language editing tools for improving clarity in their own comments but remain personally responsible for the evaluation.

Ethical Oversight and Verification

All submissions will undergo plagiarism and integrity checks (using CrossCheck/iThenticate). The editorial board reserves the right to request clarification or supporting documentation if AI use is suspected or unclear. In cases where AI misuse is identified, the paper will be rejected or retracted, and further penalties (including bans from future conferences) may apply.

Consequences of Misuse

Violations of this policy will be taken seriously. Possible actions include:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript during review.
  • Retraction of accepted or published papers if misuse is discovered post-publication.
  • Notification of authors’ institutions in severe cases of misconduct.
  • Exclusion from future submissions to the conference for a specified period.

Alignment with International Standards

This policy is consistent with the guidelines of Elsevier, Scopus, and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). It is designed to safeguard the integrity, reliability, and credibility of the research published in the Liberec Economic Forum proceedings.

Guidance for Authors

If you are uncertain about whether your intended use of GenAI complies with this policy, please contact the program committee at [contact email]. Authors are encouraged to act with caution, prioritize transparency, and ensure that their work reflects genuine scholarly contributions.
